Touba holy city day trip from Dakar

Travel from Dakar for a respectful full-day discovery of Touba, the spiritual capital of Mouridism. This Friday excursion includes return transport, lunch and a visit to the accessible areas of the Great Mosque, nearby places of remembrance and, if requested and permitted, Bakhiya cemetery. The route also introduces historic homes associated with the sons of Sheikh Ahmadou Bamba around the mosque.

Touba and its Great Mosque are active religious places. Modest, loose-fitting clothing is required: shoulders and legs must be covered, and female visitors should cover their hair in the relevant areas.

The itinerary may be adjusted around prayers, ceremonies, instructions from religious authorities, traffic and access permissions. Some areas, homes or cemeteries may be closed or accessible only with local authorisation. Photographs may only be taken where permitted.

The Bakhiya visit is optional and should be requested in advance. Travel time between Dakar and Touba depends on traffic; please keep the full day available.
