Leave Dakar or Mbour for a full-day excursion to Fathala Wildlife Reserve combining two major experiences: a guided safari through the reserve and a strictly supervised walk with lions.
Round-trip transportation is organized from a confirmed meeting point in Dakar or Mbour in an air-conditioned vehicle suited to the number of participants. Departure times are communicated according to the selected meeting point, the reserve’s schedule and traffic conditions.
The first part of the experience is a guided safari. Visitors travel along the authorized reserve tracks in a suitable vehicle accompanied by a guide. Depending on the season and natural wildlife movement, it may be possible to see giraffes, rhinoceroses, buffaloes, warthogs, antelopes, monkeys and several bird species.
The safari generally lasts approximately two hours. Its duration may be adjusted because of weather, track conditions, wildlife movement or operational requirements. No particular animal sighting can be guaranteed.
The excursion also includes a guided walk with lions lasting approximately 40 to 45 minutes. This activity takes place exclusively under the supervision of authorized guides and handlers from Fathala Wildlife Reserve.
Each participant must be at least 1.50 metres tall, with no exceptions. Participants must attend the safety briefing, follow all instructions and sign the form required by the reserve.
Bags, purses, backpacks, sunglasses and animal-print clothing are prohibited during the lion walk. Loose clothing should be avoided and shoelaces must be securely tied. Running, jumping, kneeling, bending in front of the lions, touching them or approaching them without authorization is prohibited.
Personal photo opportunities may be available according to staff instructions. A professional photographer, souvenir video or private photo service is not automatically included.
After both activities, organized transportation returns participants to Dakar or Mbour. The final programme, activity order, schedules and practical information are confirmed before departure.
